Fernando Abarca made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Albano Esiquio sent off a good shot on target. Club Universidad Nacional's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Jonathan Veronica scored to the left of an out of position Fernando Abarca, making the score, 2-2. After a rather tough play, Les Tigres's Jonathan Veronica got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute, Epifanio Velasco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Universidad Nacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Pascual Ubendu kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Club Universidad Nacional's attentive Pascual Ubendu managed to snatch the ball when Guillermo Tano made a throw-in in the 30th minute of the game. Through an outstanding action, after 35 minutes, Fernando Abarca successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Fernando Abarca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Veronica in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeledon Isusko in the 44th minute of play forced Les Tigres's goalkeeper Paulino Lain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 46 played minutes Club Universidad Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Zeledon Isusko. The score stood at 3-3 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan Veronica was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Club Universidad Nacional getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Aymerick Pérez hit a great ball. Vinicio Jon's late challenge caught a Club Universidad Nacional's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vinicio Jon helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Les Tigres getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Vinicio Jon hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Epifanio Velasco in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulino Lain saved Les Tigres from getting behind. Club Universidad Nacional's Fernando Abarca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Veronica in the 76th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Universidad Nacional's Lorenzo Aimar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulino Lain. That made the score 5-4 after 96 minutes of play.
