Ye Zheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Van Kamp in the 18th minute of play. Luc Van Hinnendael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bircan Serdar in the 21st minute of the match. Yanick Schautens's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luc Van Hinnendael read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. With a little luck, FC Bruges's Luc Van Hinnendael got control of the ball when Camillo Mercuri tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tran Hauwaerts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luc Van Hinnendael having to interfere. Ye Zheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shen Sang Hao in the 29th minute of play. Carl Van Kamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Camillo Mercuri. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shen Sang Hao in the 34th minute of play forced Flamenco United's goalkeeper Ye Zheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Camillo Mercuri struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Luc Van Hinnendael didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flamenco United. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bircan Serdar got free with Luc Van Hinnendael in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bircan Serdar was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's goal looked a bit too open when Camillo Mercuri came free, but Luc Van Hinnendael reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee ignored FC Bruges's protests and gave Antonio Eggers a yellow card for diving instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
