The Zamalek FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rhys Dimmock should have stopped the shot. Augustin Amurăriței took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rhys Dimmock. Rhys Dimmock dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Roberto Layton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Lane in the 36th minute of play. Rhys Dimmock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augustin Amurăriței, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. ChAяRuA ϒ KaяβoηEяO ☆'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alan Petersen in the 40th minute. A nice corner shot did that Bogumil Gierasik got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rhys Dimmock quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 42nd minute, Augustin Amurăriței got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Zamalek FC's Fred Kirkpatrick sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roberto Layton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augustin Amurăriței in the 46th minute of play forced Zamalek FC's goalkeeper Rhys Dimmock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 84th minute of the match, Sergey Krasinskiy tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Roberto Layton saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
