In the 6th minute Jaime Tabor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Souchu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Le Stade Briochin UC's Lev Yashin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Le Stade Briochin UC from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in R.C. Marseille's zone, Jaime Tabor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustave Souchu came out of the goal and Jaime Tabor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodolphe Briatte kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Régis Saison was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 17 minutes into the match. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for R.C. Marseille! Gustave Souchu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Tabor in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Tabor in the 26th minute of play forced R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Gustave Souchu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 played minutes Le Stade Briochin UC got a freekick which was hit by Ernest Sauze. After 46 played minutes R.C. Marseille got a freekick which was hit by Rodolphe Briatte. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Cyrille Melon made the kick off in the second half. Gustave Souchu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Tabor in the 63rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Farid Verrecchia got free with Gustave Souchu in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jaime Tabor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Gustave Souchu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. R.C. Marseille made a substitution. Fausto Ferrante replaced Tomasz Sobania. Maxence Demay kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the R.C. Marseille defense, Nolan Roux kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gustave Souchu. The R.C. Marseille fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustave Souchu should have stopped the shot. Gustave Souchu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clovis Janvier, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 92nd minute Cyrille Melon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustave Souchu came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Le Stade Briochin UC's Jaime Tabor. But to his dismay, Jaime Tabor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Le Stade Briochin UC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
