Eusebio Beltran might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olavo Henriques. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusebio Beltran ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Eusebio Beltran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olavo Henriques was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. In the 40th minute, Eusebio Beltran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Águilas Poblanas's Alfredo Niguel was substituted for Godofredo Hibai. An unexpectedly hard shot by Godofredo Remigio in the 55th minute of play forced Águilas Poblanas's goalkeeper Oswaldo Murillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oswaldo Murillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Orwel in the 73rd minute of the match. After 75 minutes of play, Racing Club's George Orwel made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Oswaldo Murillo was left in no man's land by his defense there! George Orwel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oswaldo Murillo having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Orwel in the 83rd minute of play forced Águilas Poblanas's goalkeeper Oswaldo Murillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute Racing Club were awarded a corner. Joaquin Uxio went to the cornerflag to take it. 96 minutes into the match, George Orwel notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Águilas Poblanas's Oswaldo Murillo. Oswaldo Murillo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Racing Club support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
