The supporters of Carloforte f.c. booed when Manchester United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Veli Siivonen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Beppe Savoia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ruud van Nistelrooij went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Carloforte f.c. defense, Erik Cantona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Beppe Savoia. The Carloforte f.c. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Beppe Savoia should have stopped the shot. In the 23rd match minute, Carloforte f.c. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bianco Mannucci to maneuver through the defense. Beppe Savoia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Cantona in the 25th minute of the match. Ruud van Nistelrooij fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beppe Savoia having to interfere. In the 31stth minute of the game Ruud van Nistelrooij who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Carloforte f.c.'s Beppe Savoia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Terho Ylimäki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Rotili, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martti Helin kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. In the 41st minute, Camillo Orecchioni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alessandro Iacovella to strike the kick off in the second half. If Alvise Bevilacqua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
