In the 10th minute Zé Paulo da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mambru Puertas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ryszard Pankiewicz, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Ryszard Pankiewicz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rune Jarstein was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Mambru Puertas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gunter Waller in the 31st minute. AJ Juventus FC's Mambru Puertas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save AJ Juventus FC from getting a goal against them. Lüder Roppel hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryszard Pankiewicz in the 42nd minute of the match. A sloppy throw-in by Lüder Roppel in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by AJ Juventus FC's Benja Villaraud. Mambru Puertas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Ryszard Pankiewicz in the 57th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute, Lüder Roppel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hertha 1969's Emilio Melzer was substituted for Benedikt Bensch. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Lüder Roppel hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hertha 1969's zone, Toma Cabeza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal and Toma Cabeza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
