The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes Bierunese's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaap Reitsma who took care of the corner kick. Ted Borker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Werner Kamps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 10 minutes into the game, Ágætis Byrjun's Ted Borker nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Werner Kamps made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Bierunese booed when Ágætis Byrjun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fokke Reitsma didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 26 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Jaap Reitsma. Maraman Reitsma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Sturkenboom in the 27th minute of the match. Werner Kamps took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurens Erenstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ágætis Byrjun booed when Bierunese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willem Jongsma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ted Borker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Werner Kamps read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Anton Sturkenboom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ted Borker took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Werner Kamps. Werner Kamps dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Erben Nyemanting managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bierunese's supporters rose to their feet, but Erben Nyemanting was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maraman Reitsma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marc Plagge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Werner Kamps having to interfere. Werner Kamps made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurens Erenstein in the 43rd minute of play. Bierunese were furious when Pieter Denneboom was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 45 minutes into the game, one of Bierunese:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Werner Kamps had in the 47thth minute some difficulties stopping Jaap Reitsma's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ted Borker to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Ágætis Byrjun getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Jaap Reitsma hit a great ball. Laurens Erenstein who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Werner Kamps when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Baatenburg during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 62 played minutes Bierunese got a freekick which was hit by Jan Baatenburg. Werner Kamps showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ted Borker, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. The Ágætis Byrjun fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Ágætis Byrjun's Ted Borker looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 72 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Jacco Roorda. Bierunese's Werner Kamps proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Bierunese from getting a goal against them. 78 minutes into the game, Ted Borker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ágætis Byrjun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bierunese the free kick. After 78 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Ted Borker. A collision led to Ágætis Byrjun getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Laurens Erenstein hit a great ball. The supporters of Bierunese booed when Ágætis Byrjun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaap Reitsma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ted Borker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Werner Kamps having to interfere. Ted Borker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Ted Borker took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Werner Kamps to make any attempt to save it. In the 90th minute, Ágætis Byrjun's Ted Borker ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Werner Kamps. Werner Kamps yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. When Ted Borker came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Ágætis Byrjun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ted Borker couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute, Ted Borker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ágætis Byrjun fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. A collision led to Bierunese getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Anton Sturkenboom hit a great ball. Werner Kamps was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 99th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jaap Reitsma. When the final whistle sounded Ágætis Byrjun left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Bierunese.
