After 5 played minutes INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA got a freekick which was hit by Fred Valencia. Fred Valencia struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. João Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when Capivara FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baltazar Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Valencia, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Nilmar de Souza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of João Fernandez. That made the score 1-0 after 15 minutes of play. Alisson Goycochea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinho Souto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fred Valencia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. João Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Capivara FC's goalkeeper João Fernandez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Valencia. In the 24th minute Fred Valencia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Capivara FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Léo Vargas took the corner. Lúcio Domingues tried in the game's 25th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy João Fernandez. An annoying self made goal, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Valencia in the 29th minute of play forced Capivara FC's goalkeeper João Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute of the match INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA got a corner. Capivara FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Léo Vargas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Capivara FC's goalie and right to Jorge da Silva. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Capivara FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 33 played minutes Capivara FC got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Sena. After a rather tough play, Capivara FC's Luciano Pereira got a free kick in the 37th minute. Nilmar de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. João Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Marcelo Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Léo Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Capivara FC's Marcelo Saldanha seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Marcelo Saldanha the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Capivara FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Marcelo Saldanha had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Capivara FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA:s goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Betão Pinheiro was the one to do the kick off. When Léo Vargas came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Léo Vargas couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Léo Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Léo Vargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Fernandez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilmar de Souza in the 69th minute of play. Capivara FC's João Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Vargas in the 71st minute of play. In the 74th minute Fred Valencia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Léo Vargas took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Fernandez. João Fernandez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Fred Valencia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. João Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82ndth minute of the game Fred Valencia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Capivara FC's João Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 83rd minute, Nilmar de Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Fernandez was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Capivara FC's João Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Vargas in the 86th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Léo Vargas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Fernandez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fabiano Negri hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Fred Valencia scored 7-0 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of João Fernandez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fred Valencia was shown his second yellow card after 95 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. There was no doubt that INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were the better team. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
