Vágner Gaspar hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Thomas Häll's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Serginho Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of The Shadows booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Vítor Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Thomas Häll from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Serginho Taffarel's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Vágner Gaspar hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. The Shadows's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toninho Goiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The audience was convinced that Toninho Goiano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jens Molander was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. 37 minutes into the game, Toninho Goiano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. After the first half MINEIROS were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jens Molander was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Toninho Goiano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 52 minute of play. In the 55th match minute, The Shadows was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ludwig Bock to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the game, Freddie Almkvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Serginho Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched MINEIROS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
