Ennu Nurmik charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ennu Nurmik the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 8 played minutes FC Dundee got a freekick which was hit by Ennu Nurmik. After a rather tough play, FC Dundee's Arvi Sade got a free kick in the 9th minute. Abel Figueres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 13th minute, Andrus Toiger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Juanito Rosario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, FC Dundee's Tom Loss got a free kick in the 16th minute. After 24 played minutes FC Dundee got a freekick which was hit by Sten Vonk. 26 minutes into the match, Toomas Lasso notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Universitario de deportes's Melquiades Morales. Melquiades Morales was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Brion Bermejos short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Tom Are to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Universitario de deportes getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Brion Bermejo hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Universitario de deportes defense, Tom Loss kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Melquiades Morales. The Universitario de deportes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Melquiades Morales should have stopped the shot. 39 minutes into the match, Universitario de deportes's goal looked a bit too open when Toomas Lasso came free, but Melquiades Morales reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Toomas Lasso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Melquiades Morales was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 47th minute Abel Figueres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Are saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

After 53 played minutes Universitario de deportes got a freekick which was hit by Brion Bermejo. In the 55th minute Toomas Lasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melquiades Morales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 56 played minutes FC Dundee got a freekick which was hit by Sten Vonk. Ricardo Cayuela took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tom Are. FC Dundee's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 59thth minute of the game Abel Figueres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Dundee's Tom Are was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 62 played minutes Universitario de deportes got a freekick which was hit by Isidro Zapater. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Figueres in the 65th minute of play forced FC Dundee's goalkeeper Tom Are to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th match minute, Universitario de deportes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Cayuela to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th match minute, FC Dundee was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Oppenheimer to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th minute of the match Juanito Rosario shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tom Are showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Abel Figueres notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of FC Dundee's Tom Are. Tom Are was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 83rd minute of the match, Tom Loss tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Melquiades Morales saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. FC Dundee's Tom Loss saw an opening behind the goalie Melquiades Morales in the 84thth minute and tried to shoot past into the top right corner, but with great reflexes Melquiades Morales with one arm managed to save the shot in the last secound. Juanito Rosario kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Sten Vonk struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Melquiades Morales didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Dundee. Universitario de deportes's Melquiades Morales proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Universitario de deportes from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juanito Rosario during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of FC Dundee booed when Universitario de deportes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juanito Rosario didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded FC Dundee left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Universitario de deportes.
