Internacional RS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flashdynamica the free kick. The supporters of Flashdynamica booed when S.C. Internacional RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 41 minutes S.C. Internacional RS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dries Aalst who took care of the corner kick. After some careless play in the Flashdynamica defense, Agnaldo de Castro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Meindert Janus. The Flashdynamica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Meindert Janus should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Dries Aalst's late challenge caught a S.C. Internacional RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dries Aalst helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Flashdynamica getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Dries Aalst hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the match, Dries Aalst had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sidnei Peixoto. S.C. Internacional RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dries Aalst was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Sidnei Peixoto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donald Wagenaar in the 66th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Dries Aalst notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of S.C. Internacional RS's Sidnei Peixoto. Sidnei Peixoto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Flashdynamica's Wim Robben got a free kick in the 82nd minute. 86 minutes into the game, Leandro Maciel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Meindert Janus was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
