Ruy Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Welf Heinlein, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as SV Bad Harzburg's Quint Blank slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ruy Goiano. That made the score 3-0 after 42 minutes of play. A hard shot 46 in the game by Mark Elzer from a close distance when the talented Ruy Goiano managed to make a qualified save. Portuguesa's players were relieved. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.
