After 13 played minutes DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO got a freekick which was hit by Jermaine Kenney. In the 15th minute David Connolly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darnell Elias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ahmed Sapp hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's zone, Innes McRorie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darnell Elias came out of the goal and Innes McRorie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, David Connolly put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Darnell Elias. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's Darnell Elias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Buchan in the 21st minute of play. After 22 played minutes DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO got a freekick which was hit by Jermaine Kenney. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurice Yoshioka got free with Ray McLeish in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Darnell Elias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Wallace in the 29th minute of play. Innes McRorie scored 0-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Darnell Elias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Drew Tobin to make the kick off. Darnell Elias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Wallace, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Eric Wallace reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Darnell Elias. The goal made the score 0-5. In the 61st match minute, Smiddy Celts was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Logan Loudoun to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Smiddy Celts's Alex Buchan got a free kick in the 66th minute. If Ahmed Sapp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 72 minutes into the game, Ahmed Sapp cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Ray McLeish was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 75th minute of the match, Johnny Clyne tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Darnell Elias saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Darnell Elias was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Innes McRorie showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-6 in the 84 minute of play. Darnell Elias made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Connolly in the 91st minute. In the 94th minute, Maurice Yoshioka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
