Ramiro Linares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fabricio Otsoko came out and tried to block the shot, but Ramiro Linares slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 53rd minute. Michel Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidio Pabla in the 59th minute of play. Vila Nova FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dedé Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Americo Urtats's late challenge caught a Vila Nova FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
