In the 14th minute Nick Heesen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Boruc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Artur Boruc came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Frenkie de Jong. But to his dismay, Frenkie de Jong quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Netherlands's Tadej Pogačar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Majewski in the 18th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Frenkie de Jong notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Poland's Artur Boruc. Artur Boruc was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Damazy Joks's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tadej Pogačar firmly grabbed it by the left post. Artur Boruc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frenkie de Jong in the 32nd minute of play. With a little luck, Netherlands's Tadej Pogačar got control of the ball when Damazy Joks tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 34th minute Frenkie de Jong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Boruc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tadej Pogačar made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Radomil Michnik sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damian Majewski in the 45th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Tadej Pogačar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Poland players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 1-2.

Poland's Artur Boruc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Poland from getting a goal against them. Frenkie de Jong might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Artur Boruc. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frenkie de Jong ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frenkie de Jong in the 58th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Artur Boruc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Poland's Grzegorz Soszka got a free kick in the 61st minute. After 61 played minutes Poland got a freekick which was hit by Grzegorz Soszka. Tadej Pogačar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damazy Joks in the 66th minute of the match. Tadej Pogačar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Traczewski in the 67th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Traczewski in the 68th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Tadej Pogačar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edward Traczewski in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tadej Pogačar saved Netherlands from getting behind. Grzegorz Soszka got a throw-in 80 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Wojciech Krzynowek.
