The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A hard shot 4 in the game by Leopoldo Tiadoro from a close distance when the talented Walter Huarte managed to make a qualified save. Astillero del Guayas's players were relieved. After 5 minutes Astillero del Guayas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Conor Gallagher who took care of the corner kick. Conor Gallagher made a great header on Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's corner, it was just that Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte managed to reach the ball for a save. Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Astillero del Guayas from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Hakkı Deniz Bedi hit a great ball. Walter Huarte made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Joel Lekubegi sent off a good shot on target. In the 15th minute Leopoldo Tiadoro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Huarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leopoldo Tiadoro got free with Walter Huarte in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute Joel Lekubegi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Huarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Dani Galiana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Astillero del Guayas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT the free kick. 22 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Pacheco came free, but Walter Huarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rene Lluis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulizes Sola in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Fac. de Ed. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leopoldo Tiadoro in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walter Huarte saved Astillero del Guayas from getting behind. 38 minutes into the game, Joel Lekubegi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Walter Huarte. Joel Lekubegi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 40 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Tiadoro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leopoldo Tiadoro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.
When Joel Lekubegi came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Lekubegi couldn't finish the play. In the 55th match minute, Astillero del Guayas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldeón Bretal to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Joel Lekubegi made a precise shot to the right of Walter Huarte. Astillero del Guayas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. 59 minutes into the match, Joel Lekubegi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Walter Huarte. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Lekubegi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 6-0 when Leopoldo Tiadoro sped through Astillero del Guayas's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Walter Huarte. Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Tiadoro in the 65th minute of play. Conor Gallagher scored 7-0 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Walter Huarte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Walter Huarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Tiadoro, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 76 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Lekubegi came free, but Walter Huarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Tiadoro in the 78th minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Walter Huarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Huarte came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's Joel Lekubegi. But to his dismay, Joel Lekubegi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leopoldo Tiadoro in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walter Huarte saved Astillero del Guayas from getting behind. Joel Lekubegi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Huarte having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT fans cheered their team off the field, for while Astillero del Guayas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
