The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tadeu Albuquerque during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Olivedos's Tadeu Albuquerque got a free kick in the 2nd minute. 8 minutes into the game, Olivedos's Percival Trancoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Clóvis Machado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Olivedos's Víktor Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matías Recife in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Cruz de Malta FC's Zé Carlos Souto seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Zé Carlos Souto the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cruz de Malta FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Zé Carlos Souto had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 16 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cruz de Malta FC! Víktor Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Salgado in the 19th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Antônio Carlos Valadares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Clóvis Machado. That made the score 2-0 in the 25 minute of play. Olivedos's Víktor Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Salgado in the 29th minute of play. Víktor Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Salgado in the 31st minute of the match. Diego Salgado took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Víktor Mineiro. Víktor Mineiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Clóvis Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Valadares, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antônio Carlos Valadares during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Olivedos getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Antônio Carlos Valadares hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Percival Trancoso was the one to do the kick off. Jean Guimarães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Víktor Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos Valadares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Clóvis Machado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Clóvis Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edson Mendes in the 68th minute of the match. Mathias Hermes hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute of the match Luiz Paulo de Castro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Clóvis Machado skillfully saved the ball. Diego Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Víktor Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matías Recife kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Cruz de Malta FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
