The goalkeeper, Eliseu de Brito, was totally fooled by C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Eugen Popeneciu, who 11 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Marian Macrea kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. If Mathias Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gino Vidal in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edgar Gurlui prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marian Macrea was shown his second yellow card after 47 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

In the 56th minute, Oscar dos Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Edgar Gurlui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Prestes in the 62nd minute of play. Eliseu de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gigel Nichita, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 75th minute Gino Vidal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar Gurlui saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 79 minutes C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Oscar dos Santos who took care of the corner kick. Eliseu de Brito stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gigel Nichita's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. The supporters of C Ａ R D I N Ａ L booed when Capibaribe Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugen Popeneciu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eliseu de Brito. 4-0.
