Karavela's Denílson Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Karavela from getting a goal against them. Válter Siqueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo José Monteiro in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denílson Catarinense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 35th minute, Moisés Antunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Karavela's zone, Paulo José Monteiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denílson Catarinense came out of the goal and Paulo José Monteiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Karavela's Sílvio Luís Barral got a free kick in the 40th minute. Denílson Catarinense was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Paulo José Monteiro. In the 46thth minute of the game Pedrinho Neiva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Karavela's Denílson Catarinense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pedrinho Neiva kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulo José Monteiro was the one to do the kick off. If Pedrinho Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
