Ronaldinho Andrade was slow to take the kick. During this time Clube Audax Metropolitano's players had a chance to rest. Vladimir Corrêa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barney Thomson's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Barney Thomson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vladimir Corrêa came out and tried to block the shot, but Barney Thomson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 9th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Fúria Futebol Clube's zone, Edgard Mineiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimir Corrêa came out of the goal and Edgard Mineiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Zeca Siqueira came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Clube Audax Metropolitano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zeca Siqueira couldn't finish the play. With his leg Vladimir Corrêa managed to avoid a goal in the 17thth minute, when Clube Audax Metropolitano's Acácio Pernambucano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Edgard Rezende kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of Fúria Futebol Clube booed when Clube Audax Metropolitano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vladimir Corrêa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Mineiro in the 29th minute of the match. Edgard Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Luís Fabiano Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Pedro Rangel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Zeca Siqueira got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vladimir Corrêa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barney Thomson's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Barney Thomson sped through Fúria Futebol Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vladimir Corrêa. Vladimir Corrêa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barney Thomson in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute Clube Audax Metropolitano were awarded a corner. Ronaldinho Andrade went to the cornerflag to take it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chiquinho Trancoso made a kick off. Bernardo Brasil charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernardo Brasil the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Clube Audax Metropolitano booed when Fúria Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vladimir Corrêa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barney Thomson in the 57th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Fúria Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Barney Thomson came free, but Vladimir Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Barney Thomson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vladimir Corrêa. Fúria Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barney Thomson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Fúria Futebol Clube's Vladimir Corrêa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandrinho da Mata in the 70th minute of play. When Acácio Pernambucano fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube Audax Metropolitano's protests and gave Acácio Pernambucano a yellow card for diving instead. In the 72nd minute, Acácio Pernambucano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vladimir Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barney Thomson, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Barney Thomson scored 6-0 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vladimir Corrêa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luís Fabiano Cerezo hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Clube Audax Metropolitano's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
