Gilberto Hernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to Pirajiba getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Juarês Magalhães hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Carlos Bartolome managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cura del Futbol's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Bartolome was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 37th minute, Nelson de Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelson de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Hernandez having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Sydney Cearense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jairo Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Hernandez having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelson de Queiroz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Faustino Cordaryal's late challenge caught a Pirajiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Faustino Cordaryal helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pirajiba booed when Cura del Futbol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustino Cordaryal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Natanael Couto in the 55th minute really tested Gilberto Hernandez's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manfredo Silva during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
