The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejandro Rufo got free with Colin Kelleher in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Ronaldo in the 6th minute of play. Colin Kelleher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademar Rocha in the 8th minute of the match. In the 9thth minute of the game Cristian Ronaldo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 14th minute, Alejandro Rufo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remigiusz Bubczyk in the 18th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting de Gijón's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fernan Machado was slow to take the kick. During this time Konurbano Atletico's players had a chance to rest. Konurbano Atletico's Fernan Machado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Fernendo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saturnino Curcio in the 26th minute of play forced Konurbano Atletico's goalkeeper Colin Kelleher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Fernendo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Ronaldo in the 27th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Ronaldo in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Fernendo saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind. Saturnino Curcio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Fernendo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Ronaldo's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Colin Kelleher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademar Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Ronaldo hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute, Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Colin Kelleher made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Ademar Rocha sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th match minute, Konurbano Atletico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Krzysztof Pochorylo to maneuver through the defense. Sporting de Gijón's Alejandro Rufo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Matias Bilintx replaced Alejandro Rufo. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matias Bilintx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Matias Bilintx notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Konurbano Atletico's Colin Kelleher. Colin Kelleher was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remigiusz Bubczyk in the 61st minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Fernendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remigiusz Bubczyk, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 69th minute, Remigiusz Bubczyk made a precise shot to the right of Dante Fernendo. Sporting de Gijón's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 73rd minute, Ademar Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Colin Kelleher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abi Schrape hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Konurbano Atletico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernan Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute, Matias Bilintx ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Colin Kelleher was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 91st minute of the match, Remigiusz Bubczyk tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Fernendo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Dante Fernendo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 92 played minutes Konurbano Atletico got a freekick which was hit by Amadeo Favila. Amadeo Favila's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gijón's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeo Favila helped the player get up and apologised. Colin Kelleher didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matias Bilintx went, in the 99th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Sporting de Gijón were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Konurbano Atletico for a fine match.
