Noureddine Faivre could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Patrick Knechtli made a huge save. Daniel Schroeder hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Medero Gadea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Fabien Barthez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 11th minute Algrange were awarded a corner. Pascal Ohlmann went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Algrange's Pascal Ohlmann to fire away a dangerous shot which Patrick Knechtli despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With his leg Patrick Knechtli managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Algrange's Pascal Ohlmann fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Patrick Knechtli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pascal Ohlmann in the 16th minute of play. Isaiah Simmons hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Fabien Barthez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florian Plouffe, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 32ndth minute of the game Pascal Ohlmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Olympique Fribourg's Patrick Knechtli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Olympique Fribourg's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pascal Ohlmann was slow to take the kick. During this time Algrange's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Pascal Ohlmann got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Patrick Knechtli quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 35 minutes into the match, Pascal Ohlmann dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Patrick Knechtli, 2-0. Fabien Barthez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raik Topuz in the 38th minute of the match. Pascal Ohlmann let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 39th minute shot 3-0 at rihgt post. 44 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's Medero Gadea sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabien Barthez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pascal Ohlmann made a kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Patrick Knechtli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Higuera in the 55th minute of play forced Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Patrick Knechtli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Higuera came free, but Patrick Knechtli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Algrange's Cipriano Higuera got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick Knechtli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino Granati in the 60th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florian Plouffe got free with Fabien Barthez in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute Raik Topuz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabien Barthez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olympique Fribourg's Marcellus Walpert was substituted for Daniel Schroeder. The supporters of Olympique Fribourg booed when Algrange was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaiah Simmons didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Fabio Poffet hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Olympique Fribourg's Edoardo Oroni got a free kick in the 86th minute. Florian Plouffe struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Fabien Barthez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympique Fribourg. If Pascal Ohlmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Algrange's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
