Emilio Altobelli was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The tension between the Pihl United and the Carioca FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 45 minutes, Donato Castelli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When Nicolaas Anelka fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pihl United's protests and gave Nicolaas Anelka a yellow card for diving instead. Nicolaas Anelka kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Valentin Beckeman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Angelo Pilla made a huge save.
