The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ulisses Vasconcelos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raphael Penha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Delfim Varela made a precise shot to the right of Kajetan Rasialdo. Fireball Esporte Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Raphael Penha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gil Magalhães in the 13th minute. After a rather tough play, Mundial EC's Remo Aguiar got a free kick in the 16th minute. Fireball Esporte Clube were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Mundial EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tiaguinho Cavalcante took the corner. The corner led Fireball Esporte Clube's Tiaguinho Cavalcante to fire away a dangerous shot which Raphael Penha despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Fireball Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Nils Bengtsson came free, but Kajetan Rasialdo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fireball Esporte Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Will de Backer was slow to take the kick. During this time Mundial EC's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Şehzade Tecer managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 34 minutes into the game, Delfim Varela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mundial EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fireball Esporte Clube the free kick. The supporters of Fireball Esporte Clube booed when Mundial EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delfim Varela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tiaguinho Cavalcante could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Raphael Penha made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 53 played minutes Fireball Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Tiaguinho Cavalcante. In the 55th minute, Mundial EC's Nils Bengtsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kajetan Rasialdo. Kajetan Rasialdo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Remo Aguiar hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Magalhães in the 58th minute of play forced Mundial EC's goalkeeper Raphael Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mundial EC's Raphael Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Breckenfeld in the 61st minute of play. In the 70th minute, Ernesto Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mundial EC's Alessandro de Sousa was substituted for Léo Chaves. A collision led to Mundial EC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Ernesto Leão hit a great ball. After 72 played minutes, Fireball Esporte Clube's Tiaguinho Cavalcante shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Raphael Penha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fireball Esporte Clube reached it. In the 74th minute Delfim Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kajetan Rasialdo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fireball Esporte Clube's Arnaldo Leite got a free kick in the 75th minute. Tiaguinho Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raphael Penha having to interfere. Şehzade Tecer kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Pereira in the 85th minute of play forced Mundial EC's goalkeeper Raphael Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raphael Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luizinho Breckenfeld's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. In the 92nd minute, Nils Bengtsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Fireball Esporte Clube lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
