Tom Lant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 12th minute, Heigo Härm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sport Clube Recife's Pablo Lampard was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tom Lant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 16 minutes, Ervin Murumaa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the JK Kärkna and the Sport Clube Recife players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17thth minute of the game Pablo Lampard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but JK Kärkna's Tom Lant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Pablo Lampard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tom Lant was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Clube Recife from getting a goal against them. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tom Lant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robby Woody, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute Sport Clube Recife were awarded a corner. Pablo Lampard went to the cornerflag to take it. Sport Clube Recife's Dong Yang Bang was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tom Lant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Tom Lant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robby Woody's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. After 39 played minutes JK Kärkna got a freekick which was hit by Robi Trumm. In the 40th minute Robby Woody shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Lant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in JK Kärkna's zone, Gualter Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Lant came out of the goal and Gualter Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Sport Clube Recife fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when Sport Clube Recife's Robby Woody looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Sport Clube Recife were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Tom Lant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualter Penha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tom Lant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sport Clube Recife's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
