Tomas Gartzen might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arne Võsandi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arne Võsandi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Gartzen, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Arne Võsandi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Gartzen in the 30th minute of the match. Arne Võsandi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Gartzen went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 36th minute Tomas Gartzen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Võsandi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Banat Steierdorf's Arne Võsandi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Gartzen in the 36th minute of play. In the 36th minute Glauco Cruz suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dan Drâmba during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Banat Steierdorf's Dan Drâmba got a free kick in the 38th minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Banat Steierdorf's zone, Asparuh Pisev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arne Võsandi came out of the goal and Asparuh Pisev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute Tomas Gartzen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Võsandi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half FC Zhelezna were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Gartzen made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, FC Zhelezna's Asparuh Pisev sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arne Võsandi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Arne Võsandi was a little too slow when Tomas Gartzen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 1-4. FC Zhelezna's Milan Kalendzhiev was substituted for Neville Staples. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rich Ricketts in the 70th minute of play forced FC Zhelezna's goalkeeper Artur Borubar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Asparuh Pisev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Gilberto Garaile's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arne Võsandi was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vintilă Busuioceanu during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. FC Zhelezna's Gilberto Garaile got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The FC Zhelezna supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Zhelezna would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
