The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Michele Rieger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thanasit Morpeak in the 3rd minute of the match. Irvin Bayer kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Olympique de Marseille's Sadayut Thanateerasud got a free kick in the 10th minute. Bodo Oster could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Sami Veikkanen made a huge save. Axenstein's Michele Rieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mahdy Ismail in the 13th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Sadayut Thanateerasud was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olympique de Marseille's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Axenstein the free kick. In the 20th match minute, Olympique de Marseille was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sadayut Thanateerasud to maneuver through the defense. Florencio Harri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sami Veikkanen having to make a save. Sami Veikkanen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bodo Oster in the 28th minute of play. Kasper Alebeck hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Florencio Harri scored 1-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sami Veikkanen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th minute, Bodo Oster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michele Rieger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kasper Alebeck went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Sami Veikkanen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bodo Oster in the 40th minute of play. Sami Veikkanen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ragnar Lodbrok, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Axenstein's Michele Rieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aekkapong Luabunnum in the 44th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florencio Harri got free with Sami Veikkanen in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Olympique de Marseille's Sadayut Thanateerasud got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ragnar Lodbrok made a kick off. After 51 played minutes Olympique de Marseille got a freekick which was hit by Tawan Maspakorn. After 53 played minutes Axenstein got a freekick which was hit by Florencio Harri. Michele Rieger made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Mahdy Ismail sent off a good shot on target. Irvin Bayer hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. The supporters of Axenstein booed when Olympique de Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sadayut Thanateerasud didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Kasper Alebeck fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympique de Marseille's protests and gave Kasper Alebeck a yellow card for diving instead. Sami Veikkanen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ragnar Lodbrok went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. If Thanasit Morpeak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 77 minutes into the match, Olympique de Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Bodo Oster came free, but Sami Veikkanen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sami Veikkanen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bodo Oster went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Thanasit Morpeak could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Michele Rieger made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Kulenovic in the 87th minute of play forced Olympique de Marseille's goalkeeper Sami Veikkanen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute, Christian Spielhofer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute Tawan Maspakorn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michele Rieger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sami Veikkanen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ragnar Lodbrok in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Ragnar Lodbrok got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Axenstein were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Olympique de Marseille for a fine match.
