Bengt-Arne Askstedt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xie Shu Tian in the 19th minute of play. Pecém's Xie Shu Tian managed to work through Savage Hippo's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Xie Shu Tian dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edwin Grabert in the 24th minute of play forced Pecém's goalkeeper Denílson Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristiano Andrade hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Denílson Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saulius Pilipavičius in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 54thth minute of the game Edwin Grabert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pecém's Denílson Leão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The corner led Savage Hippo's Vakaris Daujotas to fire away a dangerous shot which Denílson Leão despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pecém's goalkeeper Denílson Leão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pecém's Denílson Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edwin Grabert in the 67th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Savage Hippo's goal looked a bit too open when Ibon Obeso came free, but Bengt-Arne Askstedt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Savage Hippo's Edwin Grabert got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The supporters of Savage Hippo booed when Pecém was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Schroeder didn't get a good kick on the ball.
