In the 12th minute of the match Divorciados FC got a corner. CBD Athletic's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marco Fernanco ran over to the corner to take the kick. The long shot by Arturo Vergaray in the 13th minute really tested Cornelio Brieba's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Arturo Vergaray hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, CBD Athletic's goalkeeper Cornelio Brieba had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Beat Kellenberger. Cornelio Brieba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Manuelo in the 18th minute of play. Venancio Oxarra kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Divorciados FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Beat Kellenberger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Beat Kellenberger blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cornelio Brieba having to make a save. In the 37th minute, Eulalio Bilintx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cornelio Brieba was a little too slow when Rodolfo Manuelo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 4-0. Rodolfo Manuelo struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Cornelio Brieba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Divorciados FC. Fabricio Otsoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Cornelio Brieba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eduardo Filipo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. CBD Athletic's Cornelio Brieba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabricio Otsoa in the 52nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Fabricio Otsoa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cornelio Brieba was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Cornelio Brieba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0.
