Gaspar Pelayo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Camilo Tartalo in the 4th minute of play forced Shaolin soccer's goalkeeper Wlodzimierz Osielski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pepito Tarnovskiy scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wlodzimierz Osielski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 11 minutes into the game, Cyryl Arbaszewski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shaolin soccer's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newell´s the free kick. Cyryl Arbaszewski kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Wlodzimierz Osielski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pepito Tarnovskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jesus Gitano came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Shaolin soccer's Szczepan Matuch. But to his dismay, Szczepan Matuch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidónio Candeias in the 26th minute of play forced Shaolin soccer's goalkeeper Wlodzimierz Osielski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wlodzimierz Osielski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Pelayo, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Wlodzimierz Osielski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidónio Candeias in the 36th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidónio Candeias in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wlodzimierz Osielski saved Shaolin soccer from getting behind. 42 minutes into the game, Sidónio Candeias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Wlodzimierz Osielski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyryl Arbaszewski in the 46th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Jesus Gitano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gaspar Pelayo to make the kick off. Wlodzimierz Osielski made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Gaspar Pelayo sent off a good shot on target. Wlodzimierz Osielski made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Sidónio Candeias sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Szczepan Matuch in the 54th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Jesus Gitano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaspar Pelayo might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wlodzimierz Osielski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gaspar Pelayo ran back to his position shaking his head. Newell´s made a substitution. Andres Chorache replaced Florentino Tome. Newell´s's Wincent Sniegowski was substituted for Gerardo Corderun. Newell´s's Atilano Lluciano was substituted for Pepito Tarnovskiy. If Szczepan Matuch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute, Hernán Grana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Newell´s's Jesus Gitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cyryl Arbaszewski in the 77th minute of play. In the 81st minute, Atilano Lluciano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wlodzimierz Osielski. The goal made the score 1-3. Horea Ilie kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After having played for 85 minutes, Cyryl Arbaszewski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shaolin soccer's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cyryl Arbaszewski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Szczepan Matuch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jesus Gitano was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Jesus Gitano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Szczepan Matuch in the 95th minute of play. When the match was over Newell´s could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Shaolin soccer throughout the match.
