The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunnar Deisler in the 3rd minute of play forced Filfla United's goalkeeper Etienne Blanco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 3 minutes into the game, Diablofaryd F.C.'s Gunnar Deisler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Etienne Blanco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Gunnar Deisler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Etienne Blanco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wagner Kill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grzegorz Szamotulski had great luck who in the 10thth minute grab hold of the ball when Dragoş Afloarei from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After a rather tough play, Filfla United's Ludomil Koczara got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute Wagner Kill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Etienne Blanco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wagner Kill struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Etienne Blanco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Diablofaryd F.C.. After some careless play in the Filfla United defense, Benicio Maurin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Etienne Blanco. The Filfla United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Etienne Blanco should have stopped the shot. Etienne Blanco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wagner Kill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Etienne Blanco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wagner Kill in the 44th minute of play. If Benicio Maurin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Filfla United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Diablofaryd F.C. were winning 0-4.

Etienne Blanco made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Wagner Kill sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Wagner Kill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Etienne Blanco was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Grzegorz Szamotulski was left in no man's land by his defense there! 77 minutes into the match, Filfla United's goal looked a bit too open when Wagner Kill came free, but Etienne Blanco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
