But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horacio Llin couldn't finish the play. Leonard Setara's late challenge caught a SMARTS FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonard Setara helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SMARTS FC booed when AMÉRICA F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonard Setara didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, AMÉRICA F.C.'s Teodoro Mantilla threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eulalio Calixto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Teodoro Mantilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eulalio Calixto, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Oséas Trancoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonathan Lluciano's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. 12 minutes into the match, AMÉRICA F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Horacio Llin came free, but Oséas Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SMARTS FC reached it. If Jonathan Lluciano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodoro Mantilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Setara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the game, Jorge Balesio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Oséas Trancoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 29th minute of the match Eustacio Aureo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oséas Trancoso skillfully saved the ball. Oséas Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cayetano Joanes in the 30th minute of play. Silvinho Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Teodoro Mantilla made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 33 minutes, Teodoro Mantilla successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to AMÉRICA F.C. getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Buğra Muslera hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eulalio Calixto in the 37th minute of play forced SMARTS FC's goalkeeper Teodoro Mantilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Mo Jing Jian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cayetano Joanes to make the kick off. But to his dismay, Silvinho Pinheiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 90th minute, Silvinho Pinheiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AMÉRICA F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. 94 minutes into the match, Moisés Camargo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teodoro Mantilla. SMARTS FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Moisés Camargo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1.
