Mete Golob could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Jesse McJames made a huge save. Carlton Convine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Will Neil in the 11th minute of the match. A hard shot 13 in the game by Thomas Grandison from a close distance when the talented Jesse McJames managed to make a qualified save. Smiddy Celts's players were relieved. In the 14th minute Graeme Gordon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlton Convine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jesse McJames made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mete Golob in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Grandison got free with Jesse McJames in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlton Convine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Graeme McRobie, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 22 minutes into the match, Graeme McRobie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlton Convine. Glasston's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Graeme McRobie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Paddy Thomson might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlton Convine. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paddy Thomson ran back to his position shaking his head. Mete Golob succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 27th playminute. Smiddy Celts's Jesse McJames proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Smiddy Celts from getting a goal against them. After having played for 35 minutes, Thomas Grandison managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Glasston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thomas Grandison was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jesse McJames made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thomas Grandison in the 39th minute. Graeme McRobie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bengt-Rune Rolfsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Jesse McJames tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 43 played minutes Smiddy Celts got a freekick which was hit by Graeme Gordon. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Grandison got free with Jesse McJames in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Smiddy Celts's Paulo Renato Narcisse got a free kick in the 46th minute. The Glasston players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Smiddy Celts were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Graeme McRobie stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Graeme McRobie came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Smiddy Celts fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Graeme McRobie couldn't finish the play. Phillip McKeochan came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Carlton Convine could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, Smiddy Celts's Graeme Gordon got a free kick in the 64th minute. The supporters of Smiddy Celts booed when Glasston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bennett Rishton didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Glasston getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Bennett Rishton hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Will Neil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smiddy Celts's supporters rose to their feet, but Will Neil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlton Convine breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlton Convine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paddy Thomson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Graeme Gordon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Smiddy Celts fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. With a left leg Jesse McJames saved Smiddy Celts from getting behind. Carlton Convine came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Smiddy Celts's Phillip McKeochan. But to his dismay, Phillip McKeochan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. The audience was convinced that Graeme Gordon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlton Convine was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Jesse McJames made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mete Golob in the 94th minute of play.
