Tommy Porter charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tommy Porter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 2nd minute, one of Korona Kielce:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Korona Kielce. The referee gave Sydney FC a penalty, 4 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jakov Stähr, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Korona Kielce's Gary Ingram. 0-1. Jakub Lukowski kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Jakov Stähr hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Jakub Lukowski struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Michael Bremicker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Korona Kielce. In the 14th minute, Darren Clayton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jakub Lukowski in the 15th minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Michael Bremicker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerry Furniss lost his temper 17 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Korona Kielce! Gary Ingram had in the 19thth minute some difficulties stopping Jakov Stähr's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Sydney FC's Michael Bremicker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zane Woodyat in the 26th minute of play. Gary Ingram didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Per Schäfer went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 31 played minutes Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Richard Clemens. Gary Ingram made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per Schäfer in the 34th minute of play. Pawel Sobolewski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Michael Bremicker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pawel Sobolewski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sydney FC's Michael Bremicker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alastair Boatman in the 39th minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, Alastair Boatman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Korona Kielce's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sydney FC the free kick. In the 45th match minute, Korona Kielce was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alastair Boatman to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Per Schäfer to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zane Woodyat in the 51st minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Michael Bremicker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zane Woodyat in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michael Bremicker saved Sydney FC from getting behind. Gary Ingram showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Per Schäfer in the 55th minute of the match. In the 57th match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrik Reifer to maneuver through the defense. Sydney FC's Michael Bremicker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alastair Boatman in the 60th minute of play. When Pawel Sobolewski came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Korona Kielce fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pawel Sobolewski couldn't finish the play. Michael Bremicker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pawel Sobolewski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Jakov Stähr got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pawel Sobolewski struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Michael Bremicker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Korona Kielce. Gary Ingram came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Sydney FC's Per Schäfer. But to his dismay, Per Schäfer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The crowd rose to their feet as Sydney FC's Per Schäfer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gary Ingram. That made the score 0-5 after 91 minutes of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sydney FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
