Matías Damião yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. 36 minutes into the match, Febre Amarela's goal looked a bit too open when Sérgio Vianna came free, but Hortêncio Figueiredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dorival Rezende fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Febre Amarela's protests and gave Dorival Rezende a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Febre Amarela getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. In the 90th minute Sérgio Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Febre Amarela's zone, Sérgio Vianna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hortêncio Figueiredo came out of the goal and Sérgio Vianna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
