The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Deportivo Pergamino's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Baltasar Santio in the 21st minute. Baltasar Santio made a great header on Deportivo Pergamino's corner, it was just that Spams's Andoni Zubizarreta managed to reach the ball for a save. Deportivo Pergamino's Eleuterio Jerrold was substituted for Raul Llorenc. In the 64th minute Ernesto Chinto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alonzo Atarrabi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Chinto in the 71st minute of play forced Deportivo Pergamino's goalkeeper Alonzo Atarrabi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute of the match Spams got a corner. Deportivo Pergamino's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
