Vivaldo Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Soares in the 4th minute of play. After 7 played minutes Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ got a freekick which was hit by Valdo Paraíba. Osvaldo Soares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vivaldo Silva. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 10 minutes of play, Locomotiva grena's Haroldo de Barros made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vivaldo Silva was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the game, Percival Maciel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Locomotiva grena's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ the free kick. After a rather tough play, Locomotiva grena's Percival Maciel got a free kick in the 17th minute. Valdo Paraíba's late challenge caught a Locomotiva grena's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdo Paraíba helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Locomotiva grena booed when Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gildo Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 played minutes Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ got a freekick which was hit by Ulysses Gerber. In the 26thth minute of the game Toninho da Fonseca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Locomotiva grena's Vito Paulista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Haroldo de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Vivaldo Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo de Barros in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Jano Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Ulysses Gerber got a free kick in the 34th minute. Vito Paulista made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Toninho da Fonseca sent off a good shot on target. 38 minutes into the game, Haroldo de Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Locomotiva grena's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ the free kick. In the 39th minute of the match Gildo Tande sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vito Paulista skillfully saved the ball. When Haroldo de Barros came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Locomotiva grena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo de Barros couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Giovanni Prata made a kick off. A collision led to Locomotiva grena getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Anderson Carioca hit a great ball. After 63 played minutes Locomotiva grena got a freekick which was hit by Giovanni Prata. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Giovanni Prata managed to get in a good position for a shot. Locomotiva grena's supporters rose to their feet, but Giovanni Prata was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vivaldo Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Ulysses Gerber got a free kick in the 68th minute. After having played for 78 minutes, Laércio do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laércio do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vivaldo Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giovanni Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Toninho da Fonseca took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vito Paulista. Vito Paulista dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Vito Paulista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho da Fonseca in the 88th minute of the match. Toninho da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Vito Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Locomotiva grena's Haroldo de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th match minute, Locomotiva grena was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson Carioca to maneuver through the defense. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
