After 3 played minutes Borgo Doria F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Augusto La Marca. The supporters of Go Ahead Eagles booed when Borgo Doria F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Pala didn't get a good kick on the ball. With 9 minutes on the clock, Lakis Patsoureas commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Go Ahead Eagles fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 8th minute. Penalty! An unexpectedly hard shot by Florian Scudieri in the 13th minute of play forced Go Ahead Eagles's goalkeeper Themistoklis Charalambakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Themistoklis Charalambakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Pennetta in the 17th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, Go Ahead Eagles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aris Kolitsis to maneuver through the defense. Themistoklis Charalambakis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristoforo Tellini in the 19th minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Cristoforo Tellini had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Themistoklis Charalambakis. Go Ahead Eagles's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristoforo Tellini was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The supporters of Borgo Doria F.C. booed when Go Ahead Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vaggelis Pagarliotas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emilio Palone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vaggelis Pagarliotas in the 31st minute of play. After 31 minutes, Cristoforo Fabiani mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borgo Doria F.C. and the Go Ahead Eagles players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Vaggelis Pagarliotas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Go Ahead Eagles's supporters rose to their feet, but Vaggelis Pagarliotas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emilio Palone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

In the 52nd minute, Borgo Doria F.C.'s Cristoforo Tellini ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Themistoklis Charalambakis. Themistoklis Charalambakis yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Borgo Doria F.C.'s zone, Vaggelis Pagarliotas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emilio Palone came out of the goal and Vaggelis Pagarliotas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristoforo Tellini kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Vaggelis Pagarliotas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vaggelis Pagarliotas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilio Palone having to interfere. Emilio Palone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vaggelis Pagarliotas in the 68th minute of play. Giacomo Renzi hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Alberto Farina charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Farina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 78th minute, Alberto Farina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Giacomo Renzi fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Borgo Doria F.C.'s protests and gave Giacomo Renzi a yellow card for diving instead. 90 minutes into the game, one of Borgo Doria F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 92nd minute there was a penalty for Go Ahead Eagles. Vassilis Stratidis stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Emilio Palone. 2-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vaggelis Pagarliotas in the 99th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emilio Palone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Borgo Doria F.C.'s fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
