Timos Paparigopoulos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eraldo Scibilia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, Felice Franceschelli cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fanis Mitilineos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Guadagnoli in the 24th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Sotiris Skopidis reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eraldo Scibilia. The goal made the score 1-1. In the 30th minute, Thrasivoulos Seremetiadis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fanis Mitilineos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Guadagnoli, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sotiris Skopidis in the 41st minute of play forced S.S.C. NAPOLI's goalkeeper Eraldo Scibilia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
