Váldson da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Nordestão Futebol Clube defense, Maicon Baiano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Augusto Custódio. The Nordestão Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Augusto Custódio should have stopped the shot. In the 20th play minute Carlos Eduardo Teixeira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Zé Augusto Custódio. 2-0. Adriano Soares hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Natanael Albuquerque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. TAQUARI FC's Adriano Soares couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 28th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nordestão Futebol Clube. In the 31st minute, Erasmo Valladares made a precise shot to the right of Cláudio Taffarel. TAQUARI FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 36th minute, Marcel Falcão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Falcão in the 45th minute of play. TAQUARI FC's Carlos Eduardo Teixeira got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Eduardo Teixeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zé Augusto Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Soares in the 53rd minute of play. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Valladares, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. When Yuri Vinhas fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nordestão Futebol Clube's protests and gave Yuri Vinhas a yellow card for diving instead. Carlos Eduardo Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Zé Augusto Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Nuno Pontes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nordestão Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave TAQUARI FC the free kick. In the 59th minute, Nuno Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maicon Baiano in the 61st minute of play forced Nordestão Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Custódio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd match minute, Nordestão Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erasmo Valladares to maneuver through the defense. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erasmo Valladares in the 72nd minute of play. Nuno Pontes hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Zé Augusto Custódio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Eduardo Teixeira in the 80th minute of the match. The supporters of TAQUARI FC booed when Nordestão Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Pontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erasmo Valladares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Cláudio Taffarel made a huge save. 90 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nuno Pontes. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Nuno Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nordestão Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Nuno Pontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Taffarel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
