Spectators: 160 (Terracing: 120, Seating: 37, VIP seats: 3) Marcel Abreu started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Marcel Abreu scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diego Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fausto Ferraz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marco Monteiro went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 11th minute, Luisão Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Independente FC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Inácio das Neves hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Carlos Alberto Magalhães got a free kick in the 17th minute. Alexandre Cabral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diego Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Magalhães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 minutes, Marcel Abreu made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Independente FC's Diego Martins tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Rui da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Diego Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcel Abreu scored 1-4 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diego Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when José Vítor Rodrigues came free, but Fausto Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diego Martins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Abreu in the 34th minute of play. 1-5 became the score in the 36th minute when Marcel Abreu elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Gilberto Gonçalves got a free kick in the 40th minute. The Independente FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were winning 1-5.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Vítor Rodrigues to make the kick off. In the 56th minute, Marcel Abreu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Diego Martins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Abreu in the 65th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Soni Féron during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. José Vítor Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Ferraz having to interfere. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Rui da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Diego Martins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rui da Costa in the 90th minute. Marcel Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Diego Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rui da Costa came free, but Diego Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul played a much better game than Independente FC and deserved their victory. The Independente FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
