Vaughn Willingham started the match with the kick off. Vigil Teigeiro made a fantastic save in the 2nd minute, when Florian Osborne sent off a good shot on target. 8 minutes into the match, Kentucky Mustangs's goal looked a bit too open when Isauro Caloca came free, but Titus Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Kentucky Mustangs booed when Atlético Grau Piura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cambranes Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 35 played minutes Kentucky Mustangs got a freekick which was hit by Florian Osborne. Titus Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Yanes in the 38th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Florian Osborne took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Vigil Teigeiro to make any attempt to save it. 47 minutes into the match, Atlético Grau Piura's Isauro Caloca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Titus Fernandez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The Kentucky Mustangs players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
