Xavier Sanjurjo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jose Saenz went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Antonio Navarro hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Urtzi Jordana during the 14th minute. After having played for 18 minutes, Arboleda Villamizar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arboleda Villamizar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isidro Madrigal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Unzueta, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 23 minutes of play, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Xencio Rebollar made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Isidro Madrigal was left in no man's land by his defense there! Isidro Madrigal made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Xurxo Mathey sent off a good shot on target. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Arboleda Villamizar got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Navarro in the 32nd minute of play forced Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalkeeper Xavier Sanjurjo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, OROTINENSE's Isidro Madrigal got control of the ball when Xencio Rebollar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 45th minute of the match, Benjamin Unzueta tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Isidro Madrigal saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benjamin Unzueta to make the kick off. Xencio Rebollar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isidro Madrigal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Xurxo Mathey's late challenge caught a OROTINENSE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xurxo Mathey helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Xurxo Mathey got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Benjamin Unzueta got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. But to his dismay, Arboleda Villamizar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. OROTINENSE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato the free kick. In the 96th minute, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Mario Garita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. OROTINENSE's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
