Gleb Elkibaev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Stanny Van Gorp made a huge save. Vladimír Maslachenko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teddy Mansell, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Bram Boonen charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bram Boonen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Esperance getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Bram Boonen hit a great ball. Gleb Elkibaev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stanny Van Gorp having to interfere. After some careless play in the Horfield FC defense, Arkadiy Barbarash kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stanny Van Gorp. The Horfield FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stanny Van Gorp should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Horfield FC's Stanny Van Gorp got control of the ball when Gleb Elkibaev tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fedor Gulyaev kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Oliver Booth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 27 in the game by Marcus Abrahamsson from a close distance when the talented Stanny Van Gorp managed to make a qualified save. Horfield FC's players were relieved. Gleb Elkibaev received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stanny Van Gorp came out and tried to block the shot, but Gleb Elkibaev slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. If Vladislav Popov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 minutes of play, Esperance's Gleb Elkibaev made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stanny Van Gorp was left in no man's land by his defense there! Esperance's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Felix Kazachenok in the 41st minute.

Vincent Bakewell hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Marcus Abrahamsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Horfield FC's Noel Rayner got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Stanny Van Gorp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fedor Gulyaev in the 57th minute of play. Stanny Van Gorp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Marcus Abrahamsson put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Stanny Van Gorp. 64 minutes into the game, Teddy Mansell recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vladimír Maslachenko. Teddy Mansell showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1. Stanny Van Gorp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Esperance made a substitution. Pavel Vorobiev replaced Fedor Gulyaev. In the 74th minute Vladislav Popov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanny Van Gorp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Esperance made a substitution. If Gavriil Dolgachev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horfield FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
