When Newell´s's Roman Garci in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C.A. Independiente's goalie prevented a goal. In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. Independiente's goalkeeper Rafael Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by C.A. Independiente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marcos Giraldo was slow to take the kick. During this time Newell´s's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Newell´s's corner Marcos Giraldo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rafael Ramos quite easily take care of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roman Garci in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rafael Ramos saved C.A. Independiente from getting behind. Quilino Gomar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Inautzi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. The Newell´s fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Newell´s's Roman Garci looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Newell´s made a substitution. Fermin Etxeberri replaced Roman Garci. 21 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Tomaso Ulloa came free, but Denis Inautzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to C.A. Independiente getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Javier Castillo hit a great ball. Newell´s's Fermin Etxeberri got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fermin Etxeberri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafael Ramos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fermin Etxeberri, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute Sungurbey Eraslan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Ramos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fermin Etxeberri in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rafael Ramos saved C.A. Independiente from getting behind. The supporters of Newell´s booed when C.A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Castillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Ramos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fermin Etxeberri's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Quilino Gomar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Denis Inautzi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Jose Montez hit a great ball. The supporters of Newell´s booed when C.A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Nuñez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fermin Etxeberri received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rafael Ramos came out and tried to block the shot, but Fermin Etxeberri slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 46th minute.

Rafael Ramos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fermin Etxeberri, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Sungurbey Eraslan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Ramos having to interfere. Rafael Ramos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fermin Etxeberri in the 57th minute of the match. Newell´s made a substitution. Cleto Laffitte replaced Andrej Golota. A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Baldomiro Pierres hit a great ball. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. Independiente's goalkeeper Rafael Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 69thth minute of the game Fermin Etxeberri who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.A. Independiente's Rafael Ramos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fermin Etxeberri in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafael Ramos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Denis Inautzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Javier Castillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cleto Laffitte recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 77 minutes of play, Newell´s's Cleto Laffitte made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rafael Ramos was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 81st minute Fermin Etxeberri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Ramos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Javier Castillo in the 82nd minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Denis Inautzi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cleto Laffitte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Ramos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. Independiente's goalkeeper Rafael Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Newell´s's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
