João Gomes was slow to take the kick. During this time F.C. Paços de Ferreira's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of F.C. Paços de Ferreira booed when North of California was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafin Ilazki didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paços de Ferreira's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Bomba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. F.C. Paços de Ferreira walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
