In the 7th minute, Davide Spadoni made a precise shot to the right of Ismael Furman. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Ismael Furman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enzo Luongo in the 16th minute of play. Marcos Libertad made in the 18th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Italy's Bruno Faccio. Marcos Libertad made in the 22nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Leonardo Tipi immediately put the ball in play. Italy's Enrico Piccirilli quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Marcos Libertad, made in the 26th minute of the game. In the 30th minute of the match Italy got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Carmine Gargano ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Carmine Gargano got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ismael Furman quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ismael Furman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enzo Luongo in the 34th minute of play. Ismael Furman came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Italy's Enzo Luongo. But to his dismay, Enzo Luongo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After 39 minutes of play, Mexico's Leonardo Tipi made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Armando Gazza was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Enzo Luongo in the 41st minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Ismael Furman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Leonardo Tipi got a free kick in the 44th minute. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Davide Spadoni could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Ismael Furman made a huge save. In the 59th minute, Enzo Luongo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ismael Furman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Mexico's Geronimo Salomone was substituted for Salvador Quezada. Italy's Aldo Di Carlo was substituted for Enzo Luongo. Italy made a substitution. Amerigo Costanzo replaced Bar Olo. 65 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Ismael Furman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mark Lenders. Italy's Armando Gazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Tipi in the 68th minute of play. Armando Gazza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isidro Oliviero's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Ismael Furman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mark Lenders. After some careless play in the Italy defense, Leonardo Tipi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Armando Gazza. The Italy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armando Gazza should have stopped the shot. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Mark Lenders scored to the left of an out of position Ismael Furman, making the score, 2-5. 92 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Aldo Di Carlo came free, but Ismael Furman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Aldo Di Carlo notched a goal, 2-6, to the right of Mexico's Ismael Furman. Ismael Furman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 95th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cuauhtémoc Cardenas to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Italy eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
