It was a well-played corner which Jaro Filip managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The audience was convinced that Martin Fossum's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ksawery Kiepski was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. After 42 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Wawrzyniec Bator. In the 44th minute Martin Fossum shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ksawery Kiepski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wawrzyniec Bator could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Filip Garaj made a huge save.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martin Fossum made a kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newcastle United's goalkeeper Ksawery Kiepski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Despite this Ksawery Kiepski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 62 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Beniamin Traczewski came free, but Filip Garaj reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AFK Petržalka's Stanko Lobotka managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lucjan Turak in the 63 minute of the game. In the 65th match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucjan Turak to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Nikola Krstović kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ksawery Kiepski. That made the score 0-3 in the 68 minute of play. Ksawery Kiepski made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Nikola Krstović sent off a good shot on target. A sloppy throw-in by Lucjan Turak in the 75th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by AFK Petržalka's Moreno Torricelli. With a little luck, Newcastle United's Ksawery Kiepski got control of the ball when Nikola Krstović tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rick Haremeijer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ksawery Kiepski having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Nikola Krstović took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Ksawery Kiepski to make any attempt to save it. Lucjan Turak made in the 85th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by AFK Petržalka's Moreno Torricelli. Nikola Krstović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ksawery Kiepski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikola Krstović in the 88th minute of play. Filip Garaj showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Kasprzak, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 95th minute, AFK Petržalka's Nikola Krstović dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched AFK Petržalka eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
